Discussion: Join The BEL Choir and Teraye in the Autism Walk
Dr. Byron E. Lennon, Sr. · 11 years, 9 months ago

Divinity Family,

Teraye Juwan Garry was born on August 3, 1993 at 1lb 11.2 oz, a very small bundle of joy. We had noticed in his development he was delayed in crawling, talking and walking. However, the doctors explained to us that he was just delayed because of the premature birth. When he turned 3 years old he was finally diagnosed with AUTISM. We were devasted and I was in total shock and denial.

Teraye has a great support system through his church at Divinity Missionary Baptist Church. He started attending church and was baptized on February 25, 2005. Pastor Byron Lennon, Sis. Margaret Lennon and the congregation accepted him with open arms. He now sings in the BEL Choir and loves going to church and the congregation loves him.

He is now 19 years old and has developed into a very loving, caring, smart, funny, handsome, outgoing young man who enjoys taking pictures of his family & friends and he loves to be a big brother to his younger brother Justin.

As we reminisce with his disability of having AUTISM in his younger years, Teraye would walk pass people and give them a scratch and we always had to come to his defense and to explain he has AUTISM. However, we did'nt know the first thing about this neurological disorder but we are more knowledgable now and it is because Teraye has taught us and has touched everyone with his loving spirit of giving & providing so much love to all that shares his world.
